India's fascists back to their favourite pastime - inciting communal hatred & threatening bloodshed

The communalists have only one thing to occupy themselves with - spread hatred and cultivate hooliganism.  Their ideas and practices are the quintessence of patriarchy and machismo. (The latest - a 'Laxman Rekha' warning to women by BJP minister)The sad truth is that a number of Indians are willing to reduce politics to this one-eyed dimension. The RSS/VHP and Islamofascists have no problem violating the law with impunity, because apart from political patronage, they enjoy support & protection in the highest quarters of the police, bureaucracy and capitalists. The RSS puts forward a 'moderate' face when convenient, and at the same time encourages the build-up of yet another temple-mosque controversy in Hyderabad, with venomous speeches being delivered by the working president of its front organisation, the VHP.  It is clear they are setting the stage for the next elections, because communal hatred & conflict is their sole agenda.  The MIM or Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen for its part has undertaken communal propaganda in Hyderabad for years. Now one of its office-bearers has made a violent speech and has been charged with a cognisable offence.

Despite the painful memories of innumerable past riots and massacres, these hooligans have no hesitation in continuing to instigate communal violence. They cannot do this without some degree of popular support - and we need to think about why we allow such hateful personalities to lead us by the nose.

There is no such thing as a Hindu or a Muslim political interest, we should have learned that by now. Such fabrications serve only the ones who invent them, and then appoint themselves 'the community's representatives'.  The only situation in which such fictional interests make sense at all is a climate of intimidation in which people fear for their lives and property . Hence violence & the anxiety generated by it is the only thing that can sustain communal politics. That is why Hitler made it the crux of his campaign to seize power, insisting that:"The very first essential for success is a perpetually constant and regular employment of violence." That is why our communalists -of whichever religion- are clones of Hitler, and champions of a fascist project to destroy democracy.

After spree of hate speeches, finally police cases against Owaisi It's been a season of hate speeches for Andhra Pradesh politician Akbaruddin Owaisi, who belongs to the MIM or Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen. And after months of appearing to get away with it, Mr Owaisi is finally being held accountable. He is reportedly in London. Two different cases have been filed against him by the police last night. The first is based on a speech made in Nizamabad on December 8. The second relates to a speech on December 24 in Adilabad, which has gone viral with thousands of views on YouTube. A court today ordered a third case to be filed against the politician on the basis of a complaint by a citizen who said he saw one of Mr Owaisi's speeches on TV. The 42-year-old heads the MIM in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly; his older brother, Asaduddin, is a Member of Parliament. He said he did not want to comment on the controversy since it is now being heard in court.. the MIM has been aggressively asserting its religious identity since the party ended its alliance with the Congress in November.

NGOs seek action against Akbar Owaisi and Praveen Togadia Leaders of various Non Government Organisations submitted a memorandum to Commissioner of police Hyderabad Mr. Anurag Sharma seeking legal action against Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and International secretary general Vishva Hindu Parishad Praveen Togadia for spreading hatred. The leaders Messrs chairman HAS India Maulana Syed Tariq Quadri advocate, Chairman Seerat un Nabi Academy Syed Ghulam Samdani Ali Quadri, general secretary HAS India Syed Abdul Qader Quadri Waheed Pasha, G M Meraj Khan and Majid Ahmed Khan submitted a memorandum to police commissioner and protested against provocative and hostile speeches by Praveen Togadia and Akbaruddin Owaisi to create communal unrest in Andhra Pradesh state in general and Hyderabad in particular. They demanded action against the two leaders and to restrain 4TV channel from telecasting provocative footage in which International Working President of VHP Praveen Togadia has threatened to make Hyderabad another Ayodhya and has warned against any attempt to remove the disputed Bhagyalakshmi temple adjacent to Charminar or stop prayers at the temple.

An antidote for pure poison - Editorial in The Hindu Rival religious extremists survive by feeding off each other. In India, Hindutva and Islamist leaders and activists have often mobilised men and materials through inflammatory hate speeches. But by any yardstick, the recent rabble-rousing speech of Akbaruddin Owaisi, leader of the Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, plumbs new depths. In substance, his speech was a clear attempt to promote enmity between Hindus and Muslims, and disrupt the fragile peace in tension-filled Hyderabad to the political benefit of himself and his party... Civil society needs to make it clear that those who incite hatred and violence against people on the basis of their religion or any other identity ought to be punished one way or another. If the police or courts won’t prosecute, convict and send them to jail, such would-be ‘leaders’ must be boycotted socially and politically.. In his rant, Mr. Owaisi used a clever trick: he first attacked the Hindutva outfits and leaders for their actions, and then proceeded to equate all Hindus with these extremist elements. This was akin to the Hindutva extremist line of holding the whole Muslim community responsible for Islamist terror...

RSS: Rapist Suraksha Sangh / Rapist Security Society The RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat (or to call him out in the way he is referred to in the Sangh: Sarsanghchalak Param Pujya Shri Mohan-ji Bhagwat-ji) has now joined the pavilion of eminent Bharatiya moustachioed misogynists. In a breathtakingly revealing statement, (Rapes occur in India, not Bharat: RSS supremo Bhagwat)  he has told us that rapes happen in India, not in Bharat. What he means is that rape only occurs in urban areas where the influence of Paschatya Sanskriti (western culture) leads women astray into being raped by men unable to help or control themselves in the face of the assault of women, out and about, by day and night, defying Mohan Bhagwat’s Sangh-mandated Lakshman Rekha.. When an upper-caste landlord in a village claims his ‘droit de seigneur’ (land-owner’s claim) with a Dalit woman, it is not rape, it is a yagya, a time honoured shastric ritual. When husbands persuade minor wives on their ‘suhaag raat’ with a few disciplinary measures that leave them with black eyes and sore limbs, it is not rape, it is the carrying out of an Upanishadic injunction. When swamijis, babajis, acharyas and prachaks have their way with ignorant and nabalik shishyas, it is not rape, it is the partaking of the naivedyam of a woman’s body. It is the realisation of a pushp ki abhilasha, even if the pushp gets pushed around a little bit in the process...

Togadia’s warning to make Hyderabad another Ayodhya

Another Hate Speech by Togadia! `The coast and the sea belong to the Hindus,’ said Togadia recently in Kerala. The coastline of Kerala has a population of fisher folk who belong to the Hindus, Muslims and Christians on more equal proportions than most of other states in India. These communities have a traditional right to the commons: the sea and the coast. Apart from the fisher folk, there are also other people from all religions also settled on this coast. The state government has constructed sea walls on  two third of the coast in Kerala, creating major disturbance for the fisher folk. The areas which are not walled are predominantly tourism areas. Tourism industry and the real estate lobbies have already captured vast areas of land that belonged to the traditional fisher people. It is in this context that Togadia’s communal statement has to be read by all. Fisher people’s organizations, left parties, trade unions, secular organizations, Muslim groups, Christian groups, secular journalists and all others have read this statement in leading newspapers. But they have all chosen to remain silent. Is it because they agree to this statement? Or do they have any  other opinion? Is Kerala creating grounds for corporatization and communal fascism, consciously or unconsciously?

Manufacturing a Riot: Ram Puniyani
In Saidabad & Madannapeth areas of Hyderabad (April 1st week, 2012) violence was unleashed against the local Muslims. In this violence several houses were damaged, many a people were injured and women were raped. Just before the incident Praveen Togadia had given an inflammatory speech in the area. There was news that fundamentalists (read- Muslims) have thrown beef and green color in the Hanuman temple. This news was enough to instigate the violence. The police succeeded in arresting the culprits, who turned out to be those belonging to Hindu communal outfits. On the New Year eve, January 1 (2012), In Sindagi town of Bijapur Pakistan flag was seen on the government buildings. The news spread with rapid speed and violence which followed led to the burning of six state transport buses and many other vehicles. As it turned out it was the activists of Sri Ram Sene of Pramod Mutallik, an ex-RSS Pracharak (Propagator), who first hoisted the Pakistan flag and then went about telling people about the same. There are many more dimensions of both these acts of violence, brought in by using religious identity, symbols and emotive appeals.  Communal violence is a cancer which has spread in to the body politic of our society. The very foundation of communal violence is the 'social common sense' the 'hate-other' ideology build around the myths and biases prevalent against the 'others'...
