Act against Akhlaq family in 20 days or else: Dadri chorus - Modi's minister and allies launch fresh attempt to whip up communal hatred

Unless he explicitly denounces it and asks his Minister and allies to stop, we have no option but to presume that the Prime Minister of India is responsible for this latest hate-campaign

NB: Following the mysterious chemical conversion of mutton into beef, local BJP cadre in Dadri village, (scene of the heinous lynching of Mohammad Akhlaq in 2015) have launched a fresh round of hate-mongering, with thinly veiled threats of violence. All this is suitably in advance of the UP elections next year. The deliberate spreading of religious hatred and incitement to violence is the Standard Operating Procedure for the BJP/RSS. As recently as November 2015 it was pulled up by the Election Commission for communal propaganda during the Bihar elections. The Prime Minister himself was the star campaigner in that election - this fact and and the content of his speeches at the time indicate his authorisation of such propaganda.

Mr Modi had appointed Sanjiv Baliyan, a man accused of being an instigator of riots to his cabinet within days of his election in May 2014 - quite clearly, he approved of whatever this person had done in Muzzafarnagar. So should we assume that his latest statements against Muslims of the village have the full approval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi?

The brother of the man who was lynched in September 2015 has appealed to the people of his village not to destroy the traditions of common life, but it is unlikely that the so-called Sangh Parivar will take heed. They worship power more than anything else, and have begun communal mobilisation

The BJP's public display of cruelty towards a family that has just been so horribly bereaved is disgraceful. Mohammad Akhlaq was beaten to death, and now they wish to arrest his family? Have they lost every vestige of humanity? It is a crying shame that such persons strut about as 'nationalists' - when they lose no opportunity to divide Indian citizens in the name of religion. Peace-loving Indians as well as well-wishers of democracy the world over should expose and denounce the vicious politics of India's ruling dispensation, and the pretentious image-mongering of its supreme leader. Here's an American commentator writing about Donald Trump's reptilian politics: When Violence Trumps the Constitution, Democracy Is in Peril. In India, violence has been trumping the rule of law with increasing frequency of late, and responsibility for this must be placed first and foremost at the door of the party and its ideological leaders, who wield executive authority in the state. The spectacle of so-called lawyers (who boast of their proximity to the Union Home Minister) beating up an accused in court premises in Delhi showed that controlled mobs now seem to be operating with state protection

Senior Republican leaders in the US are now distancing themselves from Trump because of his racist remarks against Judge Gonzalo Curiel, implying he was biased because of his parentage. House Speaker Ryan said Claiming a person can’t do their job because of their race is sort of like the textbook definition of a racist comment. I think that should be absolutely disavowed. It’s absolutely unacceptable." Public memory is short, but in 2003, Narendra Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat, was pulled up by Prime Minister Vajpayee for Modi's anti-Christian tirade against Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh. Non-resident Indians in the US and elsewhere who sympathise with the BJP will soon learn that communal and racial hatred can target them as well. It is time to assert our human identity and put a stop to this tsunami of racism, communalism, and intimidation.

Modi and Trump may come from different backgrounds, but in politics they are twins
