Nationalisation of sex: Dr Togadia sells cure for impotency at a discounted rate, only for Hindu men

Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Praveen Togadia has claimed he has concocted a cure for impotency in men. The concoction, however, will be exclusively reserved for Hindu men. According to Togadia, impotency in Hindu men is increasing and they need to start "worshipping their manhood" to produce more children. This, he says, will keep in check the Muslim population. Speaking at a gathering at Jambusar in Bharuch district, Gujarat, to invite new people into the saffron outfit, Togadia, who is a cancer surgeon by profession, was quoted by Indian Express as saying: "This is a product that I have created. It is available for Rs 600, but I'm giving it to you for Rs 500 here. Take this to your wife, ask her to mix it with your meals so that you remain potent and continue to produce children."

At the gathering, where reportedly 50 youngsters were inducted into the saffron outfit with trishuls, Togadia was also quoted as criticising the government's policy of development. He said that all the smart cities and the bullet trains the government has promised will be of no use if the government didn't protect Hindus. "Who will use them," he asked.

Blaming growing “impotency” among Hindu men for the decline in share of the community in the country’s population, VHP leader Pravin Togadia Friday exhorted them to “go home and worship your manhood”. Addressing a gathering at Jambusar in Bharuch district to induct fresh blood into the saffron outfit, he asked Hindu couples to have more children to counter the growing numbers of Muslims in India. He also blamed “love jihad” and conversion to Christianity for slipping percentage of Hindu population.

Amid chants of “Jai Shree Ram”, Togadia said: “Ab to Hindu ghatega nahi, badhega … Dharmantaran ko na, ghar wapsi ko haan; love jihadko na uniform civil codeko haan; Bangladeshi Muslim ko na… Hindu gharon me bachche paida karo (Now, the population of Hindus will rise… say no to conversion and yes ghar wapsi; say no to love jihad and yes to uniform civil code; say no to Bangladeshi Muslims… have more children in Hindu households).”

He appealed to the youth to give up tobacco – one of the reasons for “impotency”. Showing a product “prepared” by him, Togadia, who is also a doctor, said, “This is a product that I have created. It is available for Rs 600, but I’m giving out to you for Rs 500 here. Take this to your wife, ask her to mix it with your meals so that you remain potent and continue to produce children.” He also stressed on protection of cows and chose Jambusar — a town where Muslims form 30 per cent of population — to argue his point. “If we (Hindus) increase our number, will anyone in Jambusar have the audacity to slaughter a cow?”

Questioning “government’s policy of development without offering protection to Hindus”, the VHP leader said, “You are making bullet trains, smart cities, but who will travel in the trains if there is no Hindu?” At the event, around 50 youths accepted trishuls or tridents, taking a pledge to “never misuse the trishul and use it for protection of the dharma; and to never use it on a fellow Hindu.”

In 1987, the Law Ministry noted that no religious organisation could be deemed a charitable trust - yet VHP was exempted. Now, says a Central Board of Direct Taxes spokesman: "The VHP's application is being reviewed." Herein lies the catch. If the Finance Ministry now grants the VHP the status of a charitable organisation, it will be overruling the Law Ministry's opinion which is supposed to be binding on the Income Tax Department.
